Driving in the rain

I see the spray rising
from the wheels of the car
On the glass
Raindrops spatter
Rolling, flying, sliding,
Scattering every which way
Driven by the wind
Slamming into the car
Their sound persistent
like a steady drumroll
drowning out the DJ
and the music she plays

The road appears
Like a series of little lakes
Converging on the car
Through which the wheels roll
Carelessly, with impunity
Sending fountains of water
Flying on either side
We drive on
Reveling in the deluge
Inundated on every side
Locked in our own little
 rain drenched cocoon
Till a ray of sunshine
sneaking through the clouds
Scatters rainbows in its wake
And the rain stops
And the sun comes out.
